Starting on the afternoon of August 28, 2026, some users encountered the error message "Image generation failed, credits refunded to account" when generating AI images. Investigation confirmed that this issue was caused by an internal API key encryption storage anomaly, which resulted in authentication failures when calling the AI model service.
Impact
- Affected: All AI image generation (text-to-image and image-to-image)
- Unaffected: User accounts, credit balances, payments, top-ups, and history records all remained fully functional
- Credits: All failed generation requests were automatically refunded to user accounts
Resolution
The technical team completed the fix and verified full functionality on the same day. The API key encryption storage mechanism has been corrected, and AI image generation is now fully restored.
